Train Your Mind Like You Train Your Body
Â
Athletes put in the reps physically. Few are taught how to build mental fitness with the same discipline. I help athletes, parents, and coaches use proven psychological skills to improve performance and protect mental health.
Why mental fitness matters in sport
Athletic Performance Starts in the Mind
High-level sport brings pressure, expectations, and constant evaluation. Talent and physical training matter, but without mental skills, athletes struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, and burnout.
Mental fitness gives athletes tools to handle pressure, recover from mistakes faster, and stay grounded through ups and downs. It’s not about being “tough” all the time. It’s about having practical skills to respond, not react.
The methods we use
Three Powerful Approaches To Athletic Mental Health
I combine three evidence-based approaches to help athletes and families build resilient, high-performing minds.
1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Trained directly by Albert Ellis, founder of CBT, I teach a practical truth: it’s not events or people that directly cause your emotions, it’s how you think about them.
2. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT uses mindfulness to help you see which mind you’re in: Emotional, Reasonable, or Wise. You’ll learn to notice your Emotional Mind, consult your Reasonable Mind, and make decisions from your Wise Mind, where your best performances and deepest fulfillment live.
3. Misogi
Misogi is the practice of intentionally doing difficult things that are good for you. Do the hard training and your performance improves. Have the hard conversation and your relationships deepen. Apply Misogi across your life and you create steady, meaningful growth.

Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life and Sport

Trained directly by Albert Ellis, founder of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I teach you a practical truth: it’s not events or people that directly cause your emotions, it’s how you thinkabout them.Â
Access Your Wise Mind with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Mindfulness is the doorway to your Wise Mind. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) teaches you to notice which mindset you’re in so you can access your best self more often. Your highest sports performance and deepest life fulfillment live in the Wise Mind.
In this work, you’ll learn to:
- Notice and be aware of your Emotional Mind
- Consult your Reasonable Mind
- Access and make decisions from your Wise Mind
When you can see all three clearly, you stop being pushed around by emotions and start choosing your responses with clarity and confidence.

Misogi: Doing Difficult Things That Are Good for Us
Â
Misogi is the practice of intentionally doing difficult things that are good for us. When you choose meaningful challenges, you grow.
Do the hard training and your athletic performance improves.
Have the hard conversation and your relationships deepen.
Apply Misogi to almost any area of your life and you’ll see growth.
In this work, you’ll learn how to choose the right “good difficulties,” stick with them, and turn discomfort into progress.

How we work together
How I Support Athletes, Parents, and Teams
Â
Depending on your needs, our work might focus on:
- Individual athletes: Building confidence, handling mistakes, managing anxiety, and competing with a clear mind
- Parents: Supporting your athlete’s mental health without adding pressure
- Teams & coaches: Creating a culture that values both performance and well-being
We use practical tools, not theory for theory’s sake, so you can apply what we discuss directly to training, competition, and daily life.
